PORT TOWNSEND — This weekend features the last two public performances from the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes.
Square dancing, Cajun music from Louisiana and a barbecue on the green are slotted tonight at Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way.
Then, the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes performs its “Fiddle Tunes Finale” on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Starting at 7:30 tonight, music and dancing will be held at Littlefield Green outside McCurdy Pavilion.
Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased at Centrum’s website, http://centrum.org/.
The Foghorn Stringband, along with several faculty guests from the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, will provide Americans roots music for the square dance.
Four performers made of the Foghorn Stringband: Caleb Klauder (vocals, mandolin, fiddle), Reeb Willisms (vocals, guitar), Nadine Landry (vocals, upright bass) and Stephen “Sammy” Lind (vocals, fiddle, banjo).
The band draws from old-time, bluegrass, classic country and Cajun music traditions.
Cajun music performers include Steve Riley of Mamou Louisiana yielding the Cajun accordion and Christopher Stafford, a founding member of Louisiana band, Fuefollet.
Attendees should bring chairs if they plan to sit.
On Saturday, the Fiddle Tunes Finale also will be located at McCurdy Pavilon.
The finale features Michael Alpert, Jake Shulman-Ment and Pete Rushefsky; Doug Kershaw of Louisiana; James Carty, John Carty and Maggie Carty of Ireland; David Berthiaume, Jean-Francois Berthiaume, Richard Forest and Louis-Simon Lemieux of Quebec and Rhiannon Giddens and Dirk Powell.
Reserved seating costs $16, $25 or $30 per person, depending upon seating location. Tickets can be purchased at Centrum’s website.
