ENTERTAINMENT BRIEFS: Open Mic Readings set for tonight … and other items

Entertainment news from the North Olympic Peninsula.

SEQUIM — The Lodge, 660 Evergreen Farm Way, will host Fourth Friday Open Mic Readings at 6:30 tonight.

The event, produced by Writers on the Spit, consists of five-minute open mic readings that showcase diverse writing talent: poetry, short-short stories and memoir or novel excerpts, according to a news release.

The event is open to amateurs and professionals.

Published writers are welcome to bring their books and sell before and after the event.

Writers’ names are drawn randomly for reading position.

Five-minute readings are timed, so participants are encouraged to rehearse in advance to avoid the dreaded gong.

Guidelines for open mic are available through myerslindab@gmail.com.

Rockabilly band

A beer and wine garden and food vendor will be set up on site.

Johnny7 and the Black Crabs is a rockabilly band that blends the rules of vintage 1950s rhythms and modern sounds, according to its website.
