ENTERTAINMENT BRIEFS: Luck of the Draw set for Port Angeles … and other items

PORT ANGELES — Fairmount Restaurant, 1127 W. Highway 101, will host a performance by Luck of the Draw and Vertigo North from 6 to 8 tonight.

Both bands will perform a variety of music.

An open mic session will commence at 5 p.m.

Fashion Show

PORT ANGELES — North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center, 905 W. Ninth St., will host A Night of Winter Wonder, a fashion show produced by students of Studio 121 School of Cosmetology, at 6 tonight.

“Come join us and show support for our future professionals,” said Susan Witherow, cosmetology instructor.

Tickets are $20 and include entry to the show and a complimentary swag bag valued at more than $20. To purchase tickets, call Studio 121 at 360-417-0388.

During the event, enjoy hands-on practical demonstrations by cosmetology students, a runway show with avant-garde make-up and hair styles, and hors d’oeuvres and desserts provided by Skills Center Culinary Arts students.

There also will be door prizes and free giveaways.

Square Dance

PORT TOWNSEND — Quimper Grange Hall, 1219 Corona, will host a square dance and social at 8 tonight.

The caller will be Caroline Oakley of Portland, Ore.

All ages and experience levels are invited while all dances will be taught.

Entry is $6 for those 17 and older and free for youths.

Bring a personal water bottle and optional snacks to share with other dancers.

SHS choir

SEQUIM — Sunland Golf & Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim, will host a performance by the Sequim High School Select Choir and Vocal Ensemble during a meeting of the North Olympic Sail and Power Squadron on Monday evening.

Social hour begins at 5 p.m., followed by a business meeting, dinner and performance by the choir, under the direction of John Lorentzen, at about 7 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.

A dinner can be purchased for $22 per person.

PT concert

PORT TOWNSEND — Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2333 San Juan Ave., will host Care to Share — A Concert with Cris Williamson at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $25 in advance online at www.brownpapertickets.com or $30 at the door. Proceeds will benefit Jefferson County food banks.

“Holidays are always better if there is music at the heart of it all,” Williamson said.

“This Holiday show — all heart, all music features original reflections upon this season. Also, hung like lights so bright, so familiar, are some traditional pieces associated with these winter festivities. No matter what holiday you celebrate, please join us as we listen together to the heartbeat of winter.”

Williamson has recorded 31 full albums and continues to tour the acoustic circuit adding new material at each juncture.

Her performance career includes three sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall.

She also has headlined many of the great folk festivals, including Newport, Kerrville, Moab and Vancouver.

Williamson’s new album, “Motherland,” will be released in February.
