Kids workshop
SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., will host the first in a week-long series of courses about theater for kids at 9 a.m. Monday.
The one-week theatre workshop is open to youths ages 6 to 18. It will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Friday.
Tuition assistance is available for those unable to attend for financial reasons.
This is the third winter workshop offered by OTA, and it is titled “Defining Your Shape” with seasoned instructors Bonne Smith and Danny Willis leading the group.
“We will be exploring spatial awareness on stage,” Smith said.
“The actors will discover how to project themselves onto the theater stage landscape through knowledge of how to follow stage directions.”
The workshop will conclude with a staged showcase presentation for invited guests where the group will be able to practice their skills before a live audience.

Novel discussions
SEQUIM — The Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., will host Novel Conversations, a new book discussion group at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
During this inaugural meeting of the group, attendees of all backgrounds and interests are invited to share a book that has been important in their reading lives — regardless of genre — and give input to help decide the club’s book list for 2017.
The Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group will meet again every fourth Friday of the month at 4 p.m.

Glass exhibit
SEQUIM — Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., will host the opening of the “Fused, Fired and Stained: All Things Glass” art exhibit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 6.
The exhibit will be on display through March 31.
The exhibit includes 17 pieces of art from seven different artists; all of the artwork is made from or includes glass. The exhibiting artists are: Marilyn Brock, Patty Dinius; Cindy Fager, Millie Harrell, Lizbeth Harper, Sandy Placek and Susan Shaw.
The opening event will include glass demonstrations from local glass artists Millie Harrell, Lizbeth Harper and Joanna Hays.
