SEQUIM — Fifth Avenue Retirement Center will host the opening performance of “A Nice Family Gathering” — a production by Readers Theatre Plus — at 7 tonight.

The center is at 500 W. Hendrickson Ave.

Additional performances are set for 7 p.m. Saturday, as well as Nov. 18 and Nov. 19, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and Nov. 20.

Advance tickets are $10 and are available at Sequim Spice and Tea, 139 W. Washington St., until 90 minutes prior to show start time.

Tickets also are available at the door for $12.

Readers Theatre Plus is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich the community through the arts, according to readerstheatreplus.com.

“A Nice Family Gathering,” a play written by Phil Olson, centers around the Lundeen family, who are gathering for Thanksgiving at the home of their late patriarch.

During the get-together, the late father comes back as a ghost with a mission to tell his wife of 35 years that he loved her — something he neglected to tell her while he was alive. The problem — she can’t hear or see him, and even invites a date for dinner.

Proceeds benefit Puppy Pilots, a club that raises guide dogs for the blind in Sequim and Port Angeles, according to a news release.

The club currently has four guide dog puppies-in-training, according to www.puppypilots.org.

Dinner is a four-course San Francisco-inspired meal designed and prepared by the Alchemy staff, according to a news release.

Tickets are available online at www.keycitypublictheatre.org or by calling the box office at 360-385-5278.
