PORT TOWNSEND — The USO Building — located on the Fort Worden Campus, 200 Battery Way — will host an artist talk by Diego Piñón titled Body Ritual Mexicano at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The event is free and open to the public.
Piñón’s unique style of teaching and performance incorporates more than 35 years of research in Mexican energetic traditions, Japanese Butoh, ritual dance, modern dance and contemporary theater, according to a news release.
Piñón performs and teaches throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico to transform personal, cultural and social divides through the dancing body.

Photographer talk
PORT TOWNSEND — Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St., will host a discussion by photographer Allan Bruce Zee from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
During the discussion, Zee will talk about how to enhance the experience of looking at art while presenting examples of his photography — offering ways the viewer can engage in “seeing” rather than merely “looking,” according to a news release.
Zee’s imagery emerges from his travels throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico, Bali, Tahiti and South Africa.
Zee’s photographs will remain on exhibit at Nortwind Arts Center through Sept. 25.
Exhibit hours are 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays, and noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Music, lunch
SEQUIM — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., will host BlueSkyz, a dynamic jazz ensemble featuring Jason Popelka and Tess Teel at noon Tuesday.
The performance kicks off the 2016-2017 season of Music Live With Lunch, which was founded more than 25 years ago at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church by Lou and Bill Yandell as a musical outreach to the community. Concerts fall on the third Tuesday of each month through May.
“It feels most fitting that the 2016-2017 season literally opens with BlueSkyz and inspiring compositions that were carefully crafted this summer,” said Sammy Greenwood, an event organizer.
The half hour concert in the sanctuary is followed by a hot lunch and camaraderie in the parish hall.
“In keeping with the swing of it all, a delightful lunch of raspberry glazed chilled and grilled salmon salad and strawberry shortcake will be served,” Greenwood said.
Tickets this year are $12 per show, with season tickets for all eight concerts available for $80.
Tickets can be purchased at the door during the event or in the church office from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays through Thursdays.
Painting objects
PORT TOWNSEND — The Boiler Room, 711 Water St., will host Painting on Reclaimed Objects, a class led by instructor Julie Read, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
This is a free art class on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are needed or will be taken for this class. Materials will be provided.
“I will provide students with a variety of painting surfaces, mostly reclaimed wood, metal and canvas,” Read said.
“These will be gessoed and primed to save time, but I will demonstrate how I do it. From there, I will demonstrate a painting and cover some good tips and techniques to work with.”
The purpose in using reclaimed objects “is to provide students with the idea that painting doesn’t have to be a fussy, high-end hobby with specific tools,” Read said.
“I plan to incorporate a little house paint too, and maybe a toothbrush or two.”
