ENTERTAINMENT BRIEFS: Art show set Saturday at PT museum … and other items

PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County Museum of Art and History, 540 Water St., will host an art exhibit by Aloura Jorquera from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Aloura, 12, of Port Townsend is a home-schooled student who has been painting since the age of 7, said her mother, Adelita Jorquera.

“She is currently studying with Carol Heath Stabile here in Port Townsend and she hopes to pursue a career in art,” Adelita Jorquera said.

“Aloura is home-schooled, volunteers at the Marine Science Center, usually in the summer, and also for home crew. They clean and feed the sea creatures at the marine exhibit on a weekly basis.”

Contra dance

PORT ANGELES — Black Diamond Community Hall, 1942 Black Diamond Road, will host a workshop beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with a dance following at 8 p.m.

While the workshop is free, entry to the dance is by the requested donation of $8 for adults and $4 for youths younger than 18.

The dance will feature music by Kate Powers and Friends, with calls by Lindsey Dono.

Rock Concert

NORDLAND — Fort Flagler State Park, 10541 Flagler Road, Nordland, will host a performance by Joy In Mudville at 5 p.m. Sunday.

The free concert is produced by Friends of Fort Flagler. A Discover Pass is required for entrance to the park.

Joy In Mudville combines influences from old-time bluegrass, folk, rock, country, blues and funk, according to a news release.

The band consists of Jason Mogi, Kim Trenerr, Paul Stehr-Green and Mike Echternkamp.

Beverages and snacks will be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting Friends of Fort Flagler in its mission of supporting Fort Flagler State Park.
