Ensemble Electra to perform in Port Angeles on Tuesday

PORT ANGELES — The rich sounds of the recorder, violin and harpsichord will fill Maier Performance Hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday when Peninsula College’s Maier Hall Concert Series presents Ensemble Electra from Seattle.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $5 for students at Maier Hall, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. on the Peninsula College campus in Port Angeles.

After appearances during the series in 2012-13 and 2014-15, Ensemble Electra is back as a trio again.

Featured musicians include Vicki Boeckman on the recorder, Tekla Cunningham on the violin and Jillon Stoppels Dupree on the harpsichord.

The Seattle-based trio specializes in music of the 17th and 18th centuries. They draw on many years of solo and ensemble experience, as well as their individual reputations, to create innovative and dynamic performances, organizers said.

The ensemble’s programming often combines musical genres from seemingly disparate styles, woven together with intelligence and historic sensitivity, organizers said.

Since its founding in 2006, Ensemble Electra has been committed to the educational component of its programs and thus engages in conversations with audiences during performances.

The members also perform in schools and other institutions, and are all teachers on their respective instruments.

Their performances have been described as “brilliant and engaging,” “exuberant with an authoritative flair,” and “[fostering] a personal approach to the listener.”
