INDIAN ISLAND — The Navy will host its annual Deer Run on Naval Magazine Indian Island on Saturday.
Members of the public can enter Naval Magazine (NAVMAG) Indian Island’s main gate at Anderson and Indian Island Ferry roads at 8:30 a.m.
Valid picture identification is required for entry.
Registration will be available from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. that day. The cost to register is $5 for adults 18 and older; those 17 and younger are admitted free.
Participants are encouraged to arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. the day of the race, event organizers said in a news release.
At 10 a.m., the 5K and 1-mile races will begin.
The 5-kilometer — 3.10-mile — course winds through a forested area on the southern end of the island.
The 1-mile road run is suitable for participants with young children, special needs and strollers.
Dogs are not allowed on the run course.
Male and female participants finishing in the top three in each age division will receive awards.
Divisions include:
• 5-K: 17 years and younger; 18 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; and 60 years and older.
• 1-mile: 7 years and younger; 8 to 12; 13 to 17; and 18 years and older.
An awards ceremony is scheduled for approximately 11:15 a.m.
