PORT ANGELES — Director Ron Graham will conduct auditions at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse for the thriller “Deathtrap” by Ira Levin at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Callbacks, if needed, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. The first round of auditions at the playhouse, at 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd., were Thursday.
“Deathtrap” will be the first play of the Port Angeles Community Playhouse (PACP) Main Stage Season. It will run Sept. 9-25.
“This clever mystery within a mystery by Ira Levin, author of ‘Rosemary’s Baby,’ has been an audience favorite since it first premiered and remains one of the most frequently produced mysteries by community theaters across the country,” according to a press release.
Those who are interested but are unable to attend, contact PACP via Facebook PM, phone 360-452-6651 or email pacommunityplayers@hotmail.com, providing contact information and details about experience and interest.
Scripts will be made available to read (not check out) at both the Port Angeles and Sequim library.
The roles in this mystery thriller include:
• Sidney Bruhl, about 50 years old, is an impressive and well-tended man but a complex character. Intelligent but discouraged, he is a murder mystery playwright who has had one big hit followed by four flops. He likes big words and sarcasm and can be secretive and devious.
• Myra Bruhl, a slim and self-effacing woman in her 40s, is kind, caring, loving and supportive of her husband. Given to nervousness, she has a weak heart.
• Clifford Anderson, an attractive man in his mid-20s, is an author, intelligent and self-effacing. He also can be secretive and devious.
• Helga ten Dorp, a stocky, strong-jawed Tuetonic woman in her early 50s, is a Dutch psychic who helps police solve murders. She swings easily from one subject to another.
• Porter Milgrim is Sidney’s attorney and friend and is a man of substance in his mid-50s. He is mostly business with not much of a sense of humor. He is an aspiring author, but he is not very good at it.
