Dances, escape room, veterans memorial service and more set for Friday

Dances, an escape room and a veterans memorial ceremony are among Friday’s activities on the North Olympic Peninsula.

PORT TOWNSEND

Conversation cafe

PORT TOWNSEND — Conversation Cafe will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The group meets at Alchemy Restaurant, 842 Washington St.

This week’s topic is “Overregulation.”

Mercy Falls

PORT TOWNSEND — The holiday comedy “Mercy Falls” finishes its run this weekend with performances at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The play is at Key City Public Theatre, 419 Washington St.

Tickets are $24 to $29 per person and are available online at www.keycitypublictheatre.org or at the door

Balfolk dance

PORT TOWNSEND — A Balfolk International Dance is set from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.

The dance featuring partner and circle steps from Europe will be at Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona Ave.

The first hour this week will be Balkan dances.

Admission is $5 to $20 on a sliding scale.

Swing dance

PORT TOWNSEND — Tony Petrillo and the Roundabouts will perform for a swing dance at 8 p.m. Friday.

The dance will be at the Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St.

Admission is $12 per person and includes a free lesson on the nightclub two-step from Janice Eklund at 7 p.m.

Escape room

PORT HADLOCK — Teens are invited to “Escape the Arctic!” from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The teen escape room is at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave.

Dance concert

SEQUIM – Sequim Elks will host a dance and concert from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The dance will be at the Elks Lodge, 143 Pt Williams Road.

Music will be performed by the Tony Flaggs Quartet playing Americana dance music.

Admission is $10 per person, $8 for Elks members.

PORT ANGELES

Veterans memorial

PORT ANGELES — A veterans memorial service is planned at 1 p.m. Friday.

The service is held on the last Friday of each month at Veterans Memorial Park, 217 S. Lincoln St.

During the ceremony, the names of local veterans are read aloud, the bell is rung after each name, a rifle salute is fired and a bugler plays taps.

The ceremony is preceded by a bagpiper who also closes the ceremony by playing “Amazing Grace.”

FORKS

Virtual reality

FORKS — A virtual reality session is set for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday

The session is at the Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave.

Since virtual reality (VR) has potential safety concerns, participants must be 13 years or older.

Adult participants must sign a release waiver, and each participant between 13 and 17 must have a parent sign a release waiver.

Waiver forms are available to pick up in advance at the library or at nols.org/virtual-reality.
