Dance fitness party fundraiser for symphony

SEQUIM — A dance-fitness party — a fundraising Zumba-thon — is set for 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The party will be at the Sequim YMCA, 610 N. Fifth Ave. People of all ages are invited.

This time out, the $10 admission for the party will benefit the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra, which is starting its 87th season of concerts in Port Angeles and Sequim.

The event is a combination of dance party and workout, while no Zumba nor any kind of dance experience are needed. Zumba features music from around the world with dance moves.

With Halloween so close, the theme is “Monster Bash,” and some of the songs will be about zombies and such; costumes are welcome but not required, said organizer Li Gordon.

“Wear something you can dance in,” she added.

Gordon, along with several other local fitness instructors, will lead the way.

People can participate in full or for any amount of time, or just watch and cheer everyone on.

Throughout the class, each participant can modify the intensity to suit his or her own pace.

Sitting in chairs and moving the upper body is fine, and singing along is strongly encouraged.

For more information, call the Sequim YMCA at 360-477-4381, or contact the Symphony at 360-457-5579 or PortAngelesSymphony.org.
