Concerts in the Woods continues with Bread & Gravy on Sunday

COYLE — Bread &Gravy will perform Sunday at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center as part of the ongoing Concerts in the Woods series.

Bread &Gravy will perform a variety of music styles including blues, originals, classic rock, standards, Americana and contemporary music.

“You may already know this next band coming to Coyle on Sunday because they are frequently featured at many of the most popular Jefferson County venues,” said Norm Johnson, Coyle concerts founder.

The performance is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the community center, 923 Hazel Point Road.

Admission to the all-ages show is by donation.

Complimentary cookies and coffee will be offered at intermission.

Bread &Gravy consists of husband and wife duo Jess and Stephanie Doenges.

“I knew Stephanie from another duo called Rollin’ Waters that I hosted at the Pegasus Coffee House in 2006, but this is the first time for Bread &Gravy to perform at our Concerts in the Woods series,” Johnson said.

“Jess and Stephanie both show a life-long love of music that comes through to the audience as a smooth and honest presentation of the emotions in each of their songs. They share a large repertoire of great music that encompasses so many different genres. It is sure to keep the audience interested through the entire show and end up wanting more.”

Stephanie Doenges — guitarist and vocalist — was born on the Olympic Peninsula and spent her childhood on the Georgia Coast where she gained a love for roots music and spirituals, according to her biography.

She studied music classically and has performed since she was a child in a variety of groups and music styles.

Jess Doenges is a pianist originally from New York City, according to his biography. He also dabbles in spoken word poetry.

The community center is located at the southern tip of the Toandos Peninsula and is operated by the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation District with help from area residents.
