Concerts in the Barn to host Aletheia Piano Trio in Quilcene

QUILCENE — Concerts in the Barn will host the Aletheia Piano Trio for the second of five free weekends of chamber music at Alan Iglitzin’s historic barn in Quilcene on Saturday.

Located at 7630 Center Road in Quilcene, the farm opens at 11 a.m., with barn doors opening at 1 p.m. and concerts beginning at 2 p.m.

The public is invited to come early, picnic on the grounds, stroll through the gardens and enjoy the afternoon concert.

Composed of violinist Francesca dePasquale, cellist Juliette Herlin and pianist Fei-Fei Dong, the Aletheia Piano Trio will perform Mozart, Schubert, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn.

Formed in 2013 at The Juilliard School, the trio has performed at Lincoln Center in New York and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

“The ensemble is named for Aletheia, the Greek concept of sincerity,” dePasquale said. “This concept celebrates the Greeks’ approach to realizing musical works, as well as their connection with each other and their audiences.”

Iglitzin has offered chamber concerts in his barn in Quilcene since 1984.

“The Aletheia Piano Trio looks forward to our performance for Concerts in the Barn,” dePasquale added. “After performing with Alan a few years ago, I know what an incredibly special place the barn is.

“It truly provides the ideal, intimate environment for chamber music. We are so lucky to spend the week on the farm preparing this beautiful program, and we can’t wait to share it with the community.”

Visitors can hear Arriaga, Shostakovich and Beethoven on Aug. 26; Hayden, Barber and Dvorak on Aug. 27; two Schubert selections, Prokofiev, Mozart, Bridge and Brahms on Sept. 2-3; and Pierne, Debussy and Messiaen in the finale Sept. 9.
