PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will kick off spring quarter with a national touring comedian appearing on campus.

Tommy Ryman, a semifinalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, will take the stage in Maier Performance Hall at 7 tonight.

Admission is free to current Peninsula College students and by donation for the general public.

“We are very excited to start off the spring quarter having Tommy Ryman perform for us,” said Casandra White, Associated Student Council vice president of programming.

“His goofy sense of humor will keep the crowd entertained throughout the night.

“Please stop by to have an enjoyable evening of laughter and fun.”

Ryman, who grew up in Minnesota, has an impressive resume, according to a press release.

In addition to his success on Last Comic Standing, his comedy album “Having the Time of My Life” reached No. 2 on iTunes comedy charts.

He was named Best of the Midwest at Gilda’s Laugh Fest, has performed at the Great American Comedy Festival, was invited to share his comedy on Nickelodeon’s NickMom Night Out and he has a full comedy special on Dry Bar Comedy.

“The ASC has been knocking it out of the park with their very high-level comedy and magic shows over the last two or three years,” said Rick Ross, associate dean for athletics and student life.

“Landing Tommy Ryman and Joseph Reome in the same quarter is pretty exciting. Come early to get a seat.”

Tonight’s comedy show is one of two major events the Associated Student Council is hosting for spring quarter.

The college will bring back to campus magician/illusionist Joseph Reohm, of NBC’s America’s Got Talent fame, on May 24.
