Clallam Mosaic to host benefit masquerade Saturday

PORT ANGELES — Clallam Mosaic, a local nonprofit that offers support for people with special needs, will host the Mosaic Masquerade fundraiser Saturday.

The event will be at the Elks Naval Lodge, 131 E. First St.

Tickets are $75. Tickets can be purchased by calling 360-681-8642, visiting www.clallammosaic.org/masquerade or emailing info@clallammosaic.org.

Entry includes a multi-course dinner, live entertainment, live and silent auctions, and surprises throughout the evening. Inspired by the romance and mystery of “The Phantom of the Opera,” guests are invited to wear masks and costumes.

The evening will begin with a social hour and preview at 4 p.m. Wine-tasting will feature award-winning wines from Hurricane Hills Winery. A cash bar will also be available.

This year’s event will feature guest performances by members of the Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus and a performance from soloist Mark Lorentzen.

Dinner service will begin at 5 p.m. It will feature Gorgonzola pear salad and a choice of prosciutto stuffed chicken or vegetarian lasagna, ending with assorted cakes and chocolate mousse cups.

A dessert auction will showcase local bakers, including sweet bites from First Street Haven in Port Angeles and The Sweet Beginning in Sequim.

Live auction items showcasing local experiences include an Island Adventure whale-watching tour for two; a two-night stay at Whiskey Creek Beach; an airplane ride over the Dungeness/Sequim area; a self-defense class for up to eight people with Phoenix Dragon Martial Arts; and two round-trip tickets to Victoria aboard the Coho ferry.

The silent auction features a golf package from The Cedars at Dungeness; a family membership to the Seattle aquarium; a Star Wars-themed quilt from Sunbonnet Quilters; an entry package to the 2020 North Olympic Discovery marathon; a backpack picnic basket; a cooking basket complete with a Portuguese copper cataplana; and gift certificates from local restaurants and businesses.

Also featured are works by local artists: an award-winning painting by Ryoko Toyama, a carved gourd from Debbie Cain, two artists showing at the Blue Whole Gallery in Sequim and jewelry from Ocean Ink.

Funds raised during the evening support Clallam Mosaic’s continued growth and expansion of day programs, one-on-one services for individuals with special needs and support to families and caregivers.

According to Priya Jayadev, executive director, “In our 21st year, Mosaic supports a vibrant community of individuals with special needs, their families and caregivers because of the generosity of the surrounding community.

“The Masquerade will showcase the works of our participants with hand-crafted masks available at every table and their art work on display throughout the room.”
