A Christmas comedy and a holiday concert are among the activities planned Friday on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Christmas comedy
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Community Players’ newest production “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Production of A Christmas Carol” by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin, Jr. is full of sight gags, clashing egos, dozens of characters, many costume changes, audience participation and of course, many things that go wrong.
“This play is a collision of Monty Python, Fawlty Towers and Charles Dickens” said director Cheryl Dawn Koenig. “It is British farce at its best.”
The play runs Friday and Saturday, as well as Dec. 10, 13, 14, 17, 20, 21 — all at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 15 and 22 at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for students and the Tuesday performances are $8 at the door, but tickets can be reserved for $15. They are available in person at Brocante Antique Mall 105 W. First St., or online at pacommunity players.org.
The characters in the play, members of the Dramatic Society, along with the janitor, try to mount Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol” and things don’t quite come out as they hoped, but the heart of the play is still very much intact.
Koenig’s cast of five features Anita Bonham, Barbara Frederick, Lynne Murphy, Cari Stricker and Ken Winters.

Magic of cinema
FORKS — A free screening of “Off The Rez” is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The film will be shown at Peninsula College Forks, 481 S. Forks Ave.
The 2011 documentary explores the story of a Native American family in Oregon that left the reservation on behalf of one of their eight children so that she could attend a high school with a nationally recognized basketball program.
There will be a discussion with professional basketball players from the Port Angeles Rams after the film.

Holiday concert
SEQUIM — The Sequim Community Orchestra will perform its Holiday and Opening Concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The concert is at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.
The concert will feature the String Kids Academy under the direction of Tereas Bjornes followed by the community orchestra under the direction of Phil Morgan-Ellis.
The program includes Schumann’s “Choral” and Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino Caro” by the String Kids and Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” and the holiday classic “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by the community orchestra.
Both groups will unite for a performance of “Silent Night” to finish the evening.
The String Kids Academy is an after school program for students from the Sequim School District conducted by the community orchestra and supported by a grant from the Beta Nu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

Friday StoryNight
PORT TOWNSEND — The Quimper Storytelling Guild will host “Tales by Aunt Lena” from 7 to 9 Friday night.
The event is part of the First Friday StoryNight series held at the Port Townsend Friends Meeting, 1841 Sheridan St.
Featured storyteller Anne-Louise Sterry’s presentation will includes vignettes about her beloved Aunt Lena.
Sterry will be followed by an open mic segment, five-minute limit for each.
Suggested donation is $10 per person.
