CHIMACUM — The Chimacum Farmers Market will open for its 2024 season at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The market, located next to the Chimacum Corner Farmstand, 9122 Rhody Drive, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday through October.
Sunday’s opening will feature a twine-cutting ceremony, kids’ activities, music and an opportunity to meet John and Jim, the draft horses from Chimacum Workhorse Project.
This year’s market hosts 37 farm, arts, prepared food and five short-season youth vendors.
The youth vendors are children, up to 18 years old, selling homemade and homegrown products on June 7 and Aug. 4.
The market is administering the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program for adults 60 or older, 55 or older for Native Americans and Alaska Natives, with household incomes up to $2,322 per month or $3,152 for a household of two.
The federally funded program supports local food security and benefits local agriculture by increasing the buying power of participating seniors.
Seniors can register for the program at the market’s information booth on opening day.
