Celtic-folk music to be performed in Coyle

COYLE — Searson will perform high-energy Celtic folk songs on fiddles, piano, guitars, mandolin and with vocal harmonies and step dancing during a Concerts in the Woods matinee Sunday.

Sisters Erin and Colleen Searson from Ontario, Canada, will be joined by Kian Byrne of Kansas City, Mo., in the 3 p.m. Sunday show at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road. Admission will be by donation.

Complimentary cookies and coffee will be served at intermission.

“I am really looking forward to a lively, fun afternoon from this trio,” said series organizer Norm Johnson.

At the core of Searson are the Searson sisters featuring Colleen on fiddle and Erin on piano and tenor guitar, while they harmonize in their vocals and “pound the boards” with Ottawa Valley step dancing.

Singer-songwriter Byrne complements the two with his expertise on acoustic and electric guitars, bass, mandolin, fiddle and percussion.

“Together, this talented trio performs sets that feature their original style of ‘Canadian Celtic Pop,’ which includes a mix of traditional and original instrumental and vocal selections,” said the press release about the group.
