Virtuoso acoustic guitarist Claude Bourbon is returning for a show at Concerts in the woods in Coyle on Sunday, April 30th

Bourban to perform in Coyle, Port Townsend

Claude Bourbon, internationally acclaimed guitarist, will return to play a matinee show at Concerts in the Woods in Coyle on Sunday and also will perform at the The Palindrome in Port Townsend on Monday.

He will play at 3 p.m. Sunday at Concerts in the Woods at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road, Coyle. The suggested donation is $20.

Tickets are $20 in advance from https://www.ticket storm.com/e/28108/t/ or $25 at the door of The Palindrome at Eaglemount Cidery, 893 S. Jacob Miller Road for the Rainshadow Recording show at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Bourbon’s musical style has been described as “an oddly seamless combination of Spanish and Middle Eastern acoustic stylings with rough-around-the-edges American Blues,” organizers said.

The musical contrasts keep the music interesting, but his audiences focus more on Bourbon’s actual playing.

“Claude’s inimitable style incorporates all five digits on each hand dancing independently but in unison, plucking, picking and strumming at such speed and precision that his fingers often seem to melt into a blur,” organizers said.

“Thousands of people in the UK, Europe and USA have enjoyed listening to this virtuoso and for the majority of his audience it is an experience that compels them to return again and again to hear and watch him play, as his fingers lightly dance over the strings of his guitar and create a unique sound.”

Born in France and raised in Switzerland, Bourbon was classically trained on his instrument but has spent his musical life learning as much as he can about folk, blues, jazz and rock as he has toured the world.

Now based in the U.K., he will spend the next six weeks touring the U.S. and Canada before heading back to Europe for a summer tour in July.

Bourbon’s most recent CD, “Home Cooked,” was released in 2020 and will be available for sale in Coyle.
