Boldly go … celebrate 50 years of Star Trek with Sequim Art Walk

The monthly self-guided tour will take visitors on a journey through local art venues.

SEQUIM — The First Friday Art Walk in Sequim is on a trek to boldly go where no art walk has gone before.

Art Walk is a free self-guided tour that leads participants to local art venues in Sequim on the First Friday of every month.

The color theme of this evening’s Art Walk is blue to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise, said Renne Emiko Brock, who sponsors and produces the event.

“The Man Trap,” the first episode of “Star Trek: The Original Series,” debuted Sept. 8, 1966, according to imdb.com. The show spawned a franchise of additional television series and a variety of theatrical films.

“This September celebrates Star Trek’s 50th Anniversary reminding us all to go boldly and to work together for a positive future,” Brock said.

“Blue is strong and honest — full of professionalism, ambition, responsibility and building alliances.”

The shade can also be “dreamy, peaceful and hopeful,” Brock said.

Brock encourages attendees to wear blue clothing when exploring the various shops and events.

“You will find works of art and folks supporting the option to dress in shades of blue or representations of lofty and loyal aspirations as they enjoy an evening on the town with friends and family,” she said.

Art Walk will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
