Boat school’s Hull Raiser this weekend

PORT HADLOCK — The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding will host a fundraising auction both in person and virtually on Saturday.

The Hull Raiser will begin at 5 p.m. with the main program starting at 6:30 p.m. and the after-party commencing at 7 p.m. at the Boat School’s Lower Hadlock campus at 42 N. Water St.

Tickets for the in-person event are $75 and on sale at nwswb.edu/boatschoolbash. The event will include live music featuring Uncle Funk and the Dope 6, food stations hosted by the Ajax Cafe, cocktails donated by Heritage Distilling and a paddle raise with live auction items.

Free virtual registration for the main program is available for those who are unable to attend the event in person.

The school also is hosting an online, silent auction running through Sunday.

Auction items include adventures and activities, excursions and getaways, tools and learning, food and drink, local gift baskets and unique items such as a handmade denim jacket by former Boat School Chief instructor and namesake of the Hammond Shop, Jeff Hammond, and a classical guitar constructed with wood from the FV Western Flyer.

The “Hull Raiser Boat School Bash” is one of the primary sources of support for the Boat School, a nonprofit educational institution accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Colleges and Schools (ACCSC).

The mission of the Boat School is to teach and preserve boatbuilding and marine systems skills while developing the individual as a craftsperson.
