Backyard birds
SEQUIM — Christie Larsen will present “Creating Emotional Landscapes with a Backyard Wildlife Habitat” from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Larsen will address a meeting of the Sequim Prairie Garden Club in the clubhouse at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St.
Larsen, the co-owner of Wild Birds Unlimited, will discuss how to help the local bird population during the winter months including providing high energy foods, how to give birds appropriate shelters and the importance of available water during freezing temperatures.

Information session
SEQUIM — Audubon Washington and the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society will host an information session from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday.
The free educational event is in the Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.
The session will explore how healthy soils can contribute to climate action and will include a discussion of the Sustainable Farms and Fields bill (SB 5947).

PORT TOWNSEND — The Book Lovers’ Cafe will discuss “The Star Struck Dance Studio (of Yucca Springs)” by Mary Lou Sanelli from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.

Attendees can bring a wrapped new or gently read book for a gift exchange.

Farming film festival
The North Olympic Peninsula’s 2020 Farming Film Festival continues with free screenings of “The Permaculture Orchard: Beyond Organic” at noon in Port Townsend and at 6 p.m. in Port Hadlock.
The Port Townsend screening will be at the Library Learning Center in the Charles Pink House, 1256 Lawrence St.
In Port Hadlock, the film will be shown in the Humphrey Room at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave.
In the 2014 documentary, biologist Stefan Sobkowiak shares his experiences transforming a conventional apple orchard into “an abundance of biodiversity that virtually takes care of itself,” organizers said.
Each screening will be followed by a discussion about the film that highlights local efforts.
