PORT ANGELES — Lin Bruce is a late blooming, against-the-odds cross-country cyclist whose first transcontinental ride was in honor of her 60th birthday in 1999.
Bruce will be the featured teller at the free Story Swap at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Carver Room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
While entertaining, she inspires her audiences to keep “engaging while aging.”
Having ridden over 24,000 trip miles since 1999, Bruce tells stories of her many adventures, highlighted by snatches of song.
In the years since her first cross-country trip, she has crossed the U.S. four times and bicycled 900 miles to attend her 50th high school reunion, among other adventures.
Bruce is a retired massage therapist, mother of four children, grandmother of eight and wife of a retired librarian turned yoga teacher.
After a short refreshment break, an open mic session will available for anyone to step up and share a short tale.
The nonprofit Story People Of Clallam County is dedicated to bringing all forms of live storytelling to the North Olympic Peninsula.

The Story People of Clallam County hosts story swaps on the third Tuesday of the month, along with other public events: Story Slams at Olympic Theatre Arts in Sequim and at Studio Bob in Port Angeles; the annual Celtic Concert in March, and Liars’ Contest in June. The group’s premier event is the annual Forest Storytelling Festival in October at the Peninsula College Little Theater.
