PORT ANGELES — Master Gardner Cindy Ericksen will begin the Saturday in the Garden Washington State University Clallam County Extension lecture series with a presentation on “Bee-centric Gardening” at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The free presentation is open to the public and will be held at the Master Gardeners’ Woodcock Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road.
Ericksen’s presentation will focus on threats to pollinators and the importance of protecting and restoring pollinators’ habitats to encourage bee activity in gardens.
Ericksen also will give the audience steps to consider while creating a landscape to support pollinators.
She has been a Master Gardener for more than 10 years and has maintained the beehive at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden.
“Honeybee populations have been seeing a decline in the past years, so it is vital that we take steps to promote their presence in our gardens and other local habitats,” Master Gardeners said in a news release.
