Bees and honey focus of April’s History Happy Hour

Peninsula Daily News

PORT TOWNSEND — The April History Happy Hour put on by the Jefferson County Historical Society will feature the East Jefferson Beekeepers Association and honey-themed drinks.

The free monthly event is scheduled for 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 16, and will be hosted online via Zoom.

Sweet theme

The event starts with a bartenders Sophia Elan and Alexander Moats leading a tutorial on a honey-themed cocktail with alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions, according to a press release.

Richard Thomas, vice president of the East Jefferson Beekeepers Association, will then share facts about bees and beekeeping, such as the difference between skeps and Langstroth hives, the history of bees and beekeeping, details about beekeeping objects within the society’s collection and beekeeping today in Jefferson County, the press release said.

Registrants will receive the Zoom link and the list of drink ingredients once registered, and a recording of the event will be available for registered participants who can’t make the specific day.
