Bayside Gallery to host reception for ‘Find Your Story’

PORT HADLOCK — The Bayside Gallery will host a reception for the opening of “Find Your Story” from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The free reception will be in the gallery at the Old Alcohol Plant Inn, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock.

Following the reception, there will be a three-course dinner with the artists in Spirits Bar and Grill, downstairs in the lobby of the Old Alcohol Plant Inn.

Tickets to the dinner are $75 per person online at www.eventbrite.com.

The exhibit, which will feature the quilts of Sue Milling and Barb Wills, will be on display from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Dec. 31.

The exhibit explores the artists’ journeys to discover their passions through their quilts and hand-painted textiles.

Sue Ritter Milling creates intricate designs that blend big, bold colors with symbols and iconography of other cultures’ indigenous artwork from around the world.

Barb Willis, on the other hand, often incorporates unexpected materials and vibrant colors that push the boundaries of traditional quilting. Her pieces invite viewers to experience quilts as a form of fine art, challenging perceptions and encouraging dialogue.

“We are excited to bring these two extraordinary artists together in one exhibit,” said Christopher Forrest, the gallery’s art curator. “Their works not only reflect their individual journeys as artists but also showcase the evolving landscape of quilt art as a whole.”

Sales of art at the gallery, and donations, support the efforts of Bayside Housing and Services to end homelessness locally.

For more information, call Forrest at 206-465-2193 or visit www.baysideartgallery.com.

Barb Willis’ hand-painted silk “A Quiet Moment” is on display in the Bayside Gallery through the rest of the year.
