PORT TOWNSEND — As a harpsichordist and music historian, Lucinda Carver is a scholar of the music of the baroque era.
She has assembled baroque musicians from throughout the United States for a “baroque feast” featuring Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wheeler Theater at Fort Worden.
The concert is part of the Centrum Chamber Music Series.
General admission tickets are $36 to $40. Tickets are free for those 18 and under but must be reserved by calling the box office at 360-385-3102 ext. 110.
Sharing the stage with Carver will be Elizabeth Blumenstock, long-time concertmaster, leader and soloist with San Francisco’s Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and American Bach Soloists, and concertmaster of the International Handel Festival in Göttingen, Germany.
The Centrum staff invites concert ticket holders to meet Blumenstock, Carver and friends during a reception with wine and cheese following Sunday’s concert.
Besides the Brandenberg Concerto, also planned for the Sunday performance are the Bach Concerto for Two Violins, the Vivaldi Concerto for Four Violins, the Telemann Concerto for Four Violins and a Tartini concerto.
Blumenstock is artistic director of the Corona del Mar Baroque Music Festival in Southern California.
Her love of chamber music has involved her in several accomplished and interesting smaller ensembles including Musica Pacifica, Galax Quartet, Ensemble Mirable, Live Oak Baroque, and Voices of Music, and she has appeared at festivals around the world.
An enthusiastic teacher, Blumenstock teaches for the Juilliard Historical Performance program, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the American Bach Soloists Festival and Academy, the International Baroque Institute at Longy, and the Valley of the Moon Music Festival.
She plays a 1660 Andrea Guarneri violin built in Cremona, Italy.
Blumenstock and Carver will be joined on stage by Andrew McIntosh on viola, Frederic Rosselet on violincello, Moriah Neils on bass and Janet See on flute.
