‘Baby shower’ to benefit wild bird rescue in Gardiner

GARDINER — A baby shower for birds is set at Wild Birds Unlimited from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Cindy and Connor Daily from Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue will be at the store at 275953 U.S. Highway 101 with educational live birds of prey.

If the weather cooperates, they will bring Kenadie, a rescued golden eagle, also.

The public is invited to get an up-close and personal look at the birds.

Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue is a nonprofit organization that relies on public donations for its survival.

The group is looking for donations of paper towels, tissue paper, potty pads (human or puppy) laundry baskets, heating pads, small dishes like crocks or ashtrays, Exact Baby bird food, mealworms, dog or cat food (wet or dry), towels, new or gently used wool blankets, vet wrap, clothespins, bleach, Dawn dish soap, hair dryers, playpens, and gift certificates to Wild Birds Unlimited, Walmart or Petco.

Monetary donations are always welcome, too.

While Saturday is a special “baby shower” event for the birds, donations also can be dropped off anytime at Wild Birds Unlimited.
