Award-winning musicians to usher in Port Angeles Symphony season

PORT ANGELES — Live music from youthful award winners, a preview of the coming season and French cooking are part of Concert & Cuisine, the Port Angeles Symphony’s autumnal dinner at C’est si Bon restaurant Saturday.

Chef Michele Juhasz and her crew will prepare the evening meal while violist Lauren Waldron, pianist Emma Weller and violinist Adam Weller — all recent winners of the Nico Snel Young Artist Competition — will offer a mini-recital of their chosen music.

All three are Port Angeles teenagers; Waldron is coming home after her first few weeks at the College of Idaho on a music scholarship.

Tickets are $75, with proceeds to benefit the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra, which starts its 86th season with two Pops & Picnic concerts: Sept. 28 in Port Angeles and Sept. 29 in Sequim.

Doors at C’est si Bon, 23 Cedar Park Drive, will open at 6 p.m. and symphony maestro Jonathan Pasternack will introduce the performers at 6:30 p.m.

To reserve tickets, call 360-457-5579 or email PASymphony@olypen.com.

Patrons also will have a chance to see the lineup of guest artists coming to perform with the Port Angeles Symphony during the 2018-19 season, and support those soloists with a sponsorship.

The featured performers include violist Tyrone Beatty in October, pianist Josu de Solaun in November, bassoonist Hunter Gordon in January, oboist Alex Klein and guest conductor Meena Hwang in February, violinist James Garlick in March, and violist Richard O’Neill and pianist Lisa Lanza in May.

A complete list of the season’s concerts can be found at portangeles symphony.org.
