Austin duo to perform in Coyle

COYLE — The Austin, Texas, duo of Chris and Adam Carroll will perform at Concerts in the Woods at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

It will be the Carrolls’ first visit to the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road, at the end of the Toandos Peninsula. Admission will be by donation.

Complimentary cookies and coffee will be served at intermission.

“They are each well-known songwriters on their own, but now they just released their first album as a duo a few days ago (Aug. 9) called ‘Good Farmer,’ ” said series organizer Norm Johnson.

“Together they contain that old country sound in their new songs about life and love in small-town America.”

Adam Carroll has just released his ninth solo album, “I Walked In Them Shoes,” produced by Grammy Award winner Lloyd Maines, in April.

He has written with or played shows with the likes of Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Todd Snider, Hayes Carll and James McMurtry.

He has played most of the major listening rooms in the country including Club Passim, The Birchmere, The Southgate House, as well as performed on the main stage of the Kerrville Folk Festival.

Throughout the past 20 years, he has regularly toured the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Joining Adam on this tour is his wife, Chris Carroll, with whom he just released their first duo album, also produced by Maines.

Chris Carroll is originally from Ontario, Canada and since moving to Texas and marrying Adam, she has released her debut full-length LP, Trouble & Time.

She incorporates all of her influences from straight country to Motown-flavored R&B into her music.
