PORT ANGELES — Auditions are today for adults and Saturday for children for the Port Angeles Community Players’ production of “Peter Pan and Wendy.”
The play, written by Doug Rand and directed by Barbara Frederick, will feature children and adults on stage together at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd., on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons Feb. 21 to March 8.
Adult tryouts are tonight from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the playhouse for the roles of Mrs. Darling, Mr. Darling and Pirates: Hook, Starkey, Smee, Jukes, Cecco, Mullins, Noodler and Cookson.
From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, children 8 and older will audition at the playhouse for the roles of Wendy, Michael, John, Peter Pan, Jane and Lost Boys and Girls: Curly, Twin 1, Twin 2, Slightly, Tootles and Nibs.
Tryouts will be conducted on both days for roles that could be played by older kids older than 14 or adults: Liza, Nana (a dog, played on hands and knees) and Neverbird.
Also considered will be the non-speaking roles of Crocodile, Tiger Lily and additional pirates and gypsies.
Backstage support is needed in costumes, set construction, set moving and props. Rehearsals will be evenings and some Saturdays beginning Jan. 13.
Tryouts for roles with lines will consist of reading from the script. Anyone trying out for a non-speaking role needs to come to the audition and fill out appropriate paperwork. A copy of the script is available to read in the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
The play is a regular main stage production for the Port Angeles Community Players. It is not a musical and is not affiliated with Missoula Children’s Theater.
