‘As You Like It’ offered for final weekend

PORT ANGELES — They’re slipping into the woods for the last time this weekend: the romantic, comic bunch in “As You Like It,” Shakespeare’s pastoral at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.

Admission is free and donations welcome at this fourth annual Shakespeare in the Woods production, which has run for just three weekends in the Webster’s Woods art park at the center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The event starts with the 6 p.m. pre-show Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This short, comic segment, written by artistic director Anna Andersen, actor Emma Easton and students Sammy Weinert and Charlotte Hertel, introduces the audience to the “As You Like It” story and characters — and offers Shakespeare trivia and prizes.

Playgoers have a chance to win a Port Angeles Fine Arts Center membership and a North American Reciprocal Museum card, a pass that provides free admission to some 700 art venues across this continent.

“As You Like It,” directed by Cheryl Koenig with costumes by Richard Stephens and hair and makeup by Jennifer Horton, features actors from across Clallam County: Josh Sutcliffe plays the jester Touchstone; Madelynne Jones plays Rosalind the heroine and Tom Challinor is Jaques, deliverer of the “All the world’s a stage” speech.

For more about Shakespeare in the Woods, see the fine arts center’s site, www.pafac.org or call 360-457-3532.
