PORT TOWNSEND — Studium Generale East will present An Evening of Art, Adventure and Sketching with Expeditionary Artist Maria Coryell-Martin at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Coryell-Martin will speak at Peninsula College’s Port Townsend campus, 202 Eisenhower Ave., on Fort Worden. She will share stories from her travels, demonstrate her techniques and provide hands-on guidance.
Coryell-Martin is the founder of Port Townsend-based Art Toolkit, a company that sells expedition-tested tools for sketching and painting in all environments.
Coryell-Martin has been traveling the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Canada, Greenland and Antarctic Peninsula since 2005, capturing the beauty of polar and glaciated regions through her art.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a sketchbook and participate in the interactive session.
Future speakers in the monthly lecture series include Gabe Van Lelyveld in April, Rico Quirindongo in May and Jere Canote in June.
