PORT ANGELES — As the new Makers’ Market debuts this month at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center’s Webster’s Woods park, artists are invited to apply.
The market will be set up along the pathway from the park entrance at 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd. to the meadow where activities happen.
Those include the Solstice Art Festival on Friday and Saturday, and the July through August Shakespeare in the Woods performances of “The Taming of the Shrew.”
Now is the time for artists and artisans to contact Sarah Jane, gallery and program director at the center.
She encourages prospective vendors with original artwork and artisan-made goods to contact her via www.pafac.org. An application form is found by clicking on the “Artist Opportunities” link.
The first Makers’ Market will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, during the Solstice Art Festival in the Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park.
With its hands-on art activities, new art installations, guided walks, photo scavenger hunt and children’s art projects, the festival is free.
Shakespeare in the Woods, with performances at 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday from July 19 through Aug. 4, is also free to the public, with donations accepted.
The Makers’ Market will be set up in Webster’s Woods from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on performance days.
For this first year, vendors pay $50 per weekend — Solstice or Shakespeare — for a 10-by-10-foot space. Additional weekends will be $25 each.
The fine arts center will charge no commission on sales.
