Art shows, dances and a festival among activities this weekend

A variety of entertainment experiences await on the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.

• “Strong Together — An ArtistBook Collaborative” opens with a reception today at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.

The free reception will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

“Strong Together — An ArtistBook Collaborative” is the result of intentional collaboration. It will remain on display at the historic Esther Webster Gallery during regular gallery hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through March 24.

For more information, visit www.pafac.org.

• Festival of Hearts will be hosted by the Benji Project from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday to benefit Jefferson County youth.

The festival will be at the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water St., Port Townsend.

The cost is $65 for people 21 and older. To register, go to https://www.thebenji project.org/hearts.

Food will be provided by chef Arran Stark and baker Jenn Tillman. Beverages will be from Finnriver, Marrowstone Vineyards and Soul Cedar Farm. Participants can create heart-inspired art and try a new approach to Valentine’s cards, organizers said.

For more information, email info@thebenjiproject .org or call Loren Alexanian at 206-579-6469.

• Photography exhibit presented by Northwind Art features local artists at the Reveille Cafe at Fort Worden State Park.

Participants — teachers, students and volunteers — from Northwind Art School’s recent photography workshops have created the show: abstract, realist, black and white and color photos share the walls. The photos will stay on display through March 3 at the cafe, which is open daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. just inside the Fort Worden Commons building.

• Valentine’s Burlesque is set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Old Alcohol Plant Inn, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock. Admission is $30 per person; dinner and the show is $120 per person.

• DJ Jean Bettanny will play music for a variety dance from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday in Brigid’s Loft, 280 Quincy St. Admission is $10 per person.

• Tony and the Roundabouts will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Second Sunday Social Dance at Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona St., Port Townsend. No cover charge; masking is optional.

• Genealogy lecture by Mary Roddy, “The Hub of the Wheel: How Tracing a Brother with No Children Connected Ten Siblings” is set for 10 a.m. Saturday.

Roddy will address a meeting of the Clallam County Genealogical Society over Zoom.

Roddy will discuss the techniques she used to trace the origin of a family that migrated to western Pennsylvania between 1845 and 1925 in a chain migration.

The public can join the Zoom session or watch it at the society’s research center, 403 E. Eighth St.

To request the meeting link, call the center at 360-417-5000 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday or email askus@gmail.com.
