‘Art of the Pie’ a Big Library Read in Clallam County

No baking class needed, just a library card.

The North Olympic Library System — which oversees public libraries in Port Angeles, Sequim, Forks and Clallam Bay — will take part in OverDrive’s Big Library Read program, a global e-book reading club, as it features Kate McDermott’s “Art of the Pie.”

Library patrons will have unlimited downloadable access to the best-selling cookbooks from this Thursday through March 30. To borrow a copy of the e-book, visit www.nols.org.

McDermott, a Port Angeles resident, has taught the craft of pie-making to thousands of people.

Her pies have been featured in USA Today, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Real Simple magazine, Oprah.com and NPR.

In “Art of the Pie,” McDermott shares her secrets to great crusts, fabulous fillings and living a good life, according to a news release; she provides dozens of recipes with hints helpful to even the most experienced pie baker.

Big Library Read is an international reading program that connects millions of readers around the world simultaneously with an e-book.

Discussions about the cookbook, recipes and more can be found at www.Big LibraryRead.com.

The program provides immediate access to “Art of the Pie” during the two-week period without worrying about wait lists or holds.

The e-book can be read on all major computers and devices and will automatically expire at the end of the lending period.

The Big Library Read program is made possible through a partnership between the North Olympic Library System, OverDrive and Countryman Press, publisher of “Art of the Pie.”
