Art demonstration set Saturday at PT Farmers Market

PORT TOWNSEND — This Saturday at the Port Townsend Farmers Market, Northwind Art School teaching artist and goatherd Lydia Vadopalas will give a free, farm-inspired art demonstration.

Vadopalas, who operates Ground Control Goats in Port Townsend, also makes hand-carved blocks and stamps. During the market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., she’ll show visitors how to use them to make custom printed greeting cards and other artwork.

Market-goers will find Vadopalas at the Northwind Art table on the Community Center lawn alongside the farmers market at 620 Tyler St.

Vadopalas’ inspirations include her 27 goats and the variety of vegetables grown around Jefferson County. A self-taught artist, she is originally from Port Townsend.

At the nonprofit Northwind Art School at Fort Worden State Park, Vadopalas will teach three block-printed bandanna workshops this summer: June 23-24, July 29-30 and Aug. 19-20. For information, see https://northwindart.org and click on Courses.
