Art contest set for annual Squatchcon festival

PORT ANGELES — Squatchcon is accepting entries for the 2026 #DrawDarrell Student Art Contest until Oct. 31.

Since Squatchcon is in its fifth year, young artists are being challenged to draw Darrell the Sasquatch as a 5-year-old.

The winning submission will receive a $500 scholarship and a featured spot in the convention’s Student Vendor program.

The contest is open to currently enrolled or recently graduated elementary, middle, high school and college students up to age 21.

Students from Clallam County will receive first consideration, but Jefferson County students also are encouraged to apply.

Home-schooled and alternative education students are encouraged to submit drawings.

Submission instructions are posted at www.squatch conpa.com/draw-darrell.

Squatchcon is an annual convention for cosplay, comics and fan culture in Port Angeles.

The convention is scheduled for April 9-12 at the Vern Burton Community Center.
