SEQUIM — Olympic Peninsula Art Association members will hear about glass blowing from Sequim artist Megan Schmidlkofer during the group’s meeting from 9:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
The art association will meet at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., in Sequim.
Schmidlkofer owns Molten Momma’s Hot Shop, a glass-blowing shop on her family’s property where she and her husband, David, raise five children and livestock.
They are right next door to the Happy Valley Alpaca Ranch at 4629 Happy Valley Road.
“My love of glass has transformed over the years and what began as a love of the finished product, then became a love of watching people create glass works of art and now has become an even deeper obsession as I have learned to create my own pieces over the years,” she wrote.
The public is invited to live glass-blowing demonstrations at the studio from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
“Art is my therapy — it always has been,” Schmidlkofer said.
“Whether it’s the stroke of a paint brush swirling across a blank canvas, the feeling of raw wool being spun into a skein of luxurious yarn, or the fluid movement of molten glass seamlessly spinning on the end of a metal pipe; I love to create. In the process, I find peace.”
