Activities are planned throughout the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.
• Anniversary celebration — East Jefferson Fire Rescue will host a celebration of its 150th anniversary from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The celebration is in front of Port Townsend City Hall, 250 Madison St.
The public is invited to tour antique and specialty fire apparatus and enjoy kids’ activities.
The celebration also features competitions and demonstrations including the bucket brigade, a back boarding competition, make and break competition, a ladder truck and rope demonstration, automobile extrication, a marine demonstration and water ball.

• First Friday Art Walk — The 17th annual North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival’s exhibit reception at the Sequim Museum & Arts, a Blue Whole Gallery benefit for the Welfare for Animals Guild, and a variety of other special events are planned during the First Friday Art Walk tonight.
The art walk is a self-guided tour of art venues in Sequim from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the first Friday of each month.
Each art walk has a color theme; the theme this month is orange.

• Port Angeles Homecoming — Port Angeles High School’s homecoming week ends this weekend.
The homecoming parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. today at the Clallam County Courthouse parking lot on South Peabody Street, travel along East Fifth Street, turn left on South Francis Street then right on East Fourth Street, left on South Race Street and end at Civic Field at Third and Race streets.
Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. for the homecoming game against the Bremerton Knights. The homecoming court will be recognized during the halftime show.
The homecoming dance will be from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the high school gym.

• Solstice — An exhibit of work in a variety of mediums at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., will open today.
Solstice, hosted by the Sequim City Arts Advisory Commission at the Karen Kusnek-Reese Gallery, will open with a reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be on display through Jan. 2. Regular gallery hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Dana Lyons Concert — Dana Lyons, an environmental singer-songwriter, will perform from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Jardin du Soleil Lavender Farm.
The concert at the farm at 3932 Sequim-Dungeness Way in Sequim is a benefit for the Global Earth Repair Summit, a hybrid event happening Oct. 21-24, with information at www.global earthrepairfoundation.org.
Admission is by donation.
Michael Pilarski of the Global Earth Repair Foundation will give a presentation on the State of the World’s Eco-Restoration movement and best global plans to date.
North Olympic Land Trust will share about efforts to preserve farmland.
• Buttercup Lane — The band will perform classic rock and roll, blues, R&B, country and swing at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $12 per person, $10 for members.
• Cool Jam and the Marmalades — The band will perform at the Port Angeles Eagles, 2843 E. Myrtle St., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
Cover charge is $10 per person, $8 for members.
• Deidre McCalla concert — Deidre McCalla will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road, Sequim.
Admission will be $20 at the door.
A dreadlocked singer-songwriter-guitarist for close to five decades, McCalla — Black woman, mother, lesbian and feminist — offers a changed idea of “how Black folk do folk,” organizers said.
The most recent release of her five albums is Endless Grace.
• First Friday lecture — Amanda Monthei will present “Wildland Firefighting” at 7 tonight.
Monthei’s hybrid lecture will be in the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water St., Port Townsend.
The presentation is part of the Jefferson County Historical Society’s First Friday Speaker series Fire and Firefighting.
The suggested donation for the program is $10. In-person attendance is limited to 35 people who must show proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

• Author talk — Langdon Cook will present “Wild Mushrooms from Peninsula to Plate” from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. today and Saturday.
Cook will speak in the Humphrey Room at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave., today and at the Brinnon Community Center, 306144 U.S. Highway 101, Brinnon, on Saturday.
Cook will share tales and tips about finding and cooking with mushrooms; he will answer questions and sign books after his presentation.
Cook is the author of “Upstream: Searching for Wild Salmon, from River to Table,” “The Mushroom Hunters: On the Trail of an Underground America” and “Fat of the Land: Adventures of a 21st Century Forager.”

• Fiddlers’ jam — District 15 of the Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association will host a jam session from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The jam session is at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road.
Performers with other acoustic instruments, such as guitars, bases, mandolins, autoharps, ukuleles, dulcimers and percussion instruments are welcome to attend.
The jam session is free, although donations to support the district’s scholarship program are welcome.
