COYLE — Animals of Grace will perform its original songs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the next Concerts in the Woods at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center.
Admission will be by donation to the concert at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center at 923 Hazel Point Road. Complimentary cookies and coffee will be served at intermission. The center has seating for about 65 people.
Animals of Grace is an alt-folk duo based in Seattle, composed of 12-string guitar player and vocalist Erika Lundahl and percussionist Doug Indrick.
The duo’s debut album, “Songs of Shattering,” which was released in 2015 on Rolling Crone Records, features the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay.
The duo’s newest album is “Brambles,” released in September 2016. Brambles is the compilation of seven songs “of pilgrimage, climate change and the wielding and waking of love for the Earth, each other and all the hard lessons we haven’t learned yet,” Lundahl said.
It was inspired by the tar sands of Alberta, Canada, and by such events as the Mosier oil spill in Oregon.
“When I first heard Animals of Grace in a live performance, it was a serendipity moment,” said concert organizer Norman Johnson.
“This is not your average folk duo but a couple that has discovered the perfect mix of the best ingredients.”
