Acoustic guitarist to perform at Concerts in Woods

COYLE — Don Alder, an award-winning acoustic guitarist from Canada, will return to Coyle to perform in the season’s final show of the Concerts in the Woods series at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The concert will be at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road, at the end of the Toandos Peninsula.

Admission will be by donation.

Complimentary cookies and coffee will be served at intermission.

“Don Alder was here in 2016 and wowed the crowd with his lightning-fast hands switching between fingerpicking, strumming and hammering on a single guitar, making it sound like multiple guitars all playing at the same time,” said series organizer Norm Johnson.

“It is an amazing thing to watch and to listen to. We are thrilled to have him back for this final show in the Concerts in the Woods series.”

Alder, who is from Vancouver, British Columbia, won the 2015 Domenic Troiano Guitar Award (Canada), 2011 Worldwide Guitar Idol (held in London, U.K.), 2010 Guitar Superstar contest (Louisiana) and the 2007 International Fingerstyle Championships for his original songs, guitar mastery and singing.

He has been often referred to as the “Hendrix” of acoustic guitar.

His 2009 CD “Not A Planet” was nominated for two prestigious music industry awards. His new album “Armed & Dangerous” — released Sept. 1, 2015 — pays homage to the “Walking Dead” television series,

Alder’s website is at www.donalder.com.

His music also can be found on YouTube.

Now he is recording a new album to be released soon.
