2nd Friday Art Rock rocks on, features MCFD in Port Angeles

Saturday activities at Studio Bob, Harbor Art Gallery canceled

PORT ANGELES — Tonight’s 2nd Friday Art Rock is “anti-epidemic,” organizers said.

Bar N9NE, at 229 W. First St., will present local band MCFD and artist Jeff Tocher at 9 p.m.

The cover charge is $3.

Generally, Friday Art Rock is a kick-start to the Second Saturday Art Walk in Port Angeles. But Saturday activities at both Studio Bob and Harbor Art Gallery have been canceled because of concerns about the coronavirus, said Bob Stokes, owner of Studio Bob.

“MCFD has been infecting the [North Olympic] Peninsula with its ‘gout rock’ (not actually contagious) for nearly a decade,” Dan Lieberman of Bar N9NE.

Their cunning, witty lyrics on edgy and relevant topics, Stokes said, drive beats reminiscent of Sabbath, Flag and Elvis (all prefixed with ‘Black’) for Friday the 13th.

“MCFD’s lineup features Myke Mydlyfe on vocals, Greg Crysys on guitar, Fluffy on bass and new kid-phenom Joe Dawson on drums. Tocher will be the artist-in-residence painting the scene with his ‘usual bend of wit and whimsy.’ ”

Studio Bob had planned the second annual “Bring Your Own Erotic Art” show with an artists’ reception Saturday and Sunday.

Harbor Art Gallery, 114 N. Laurel St., is spotlighting the work of Nathan Shields this month, but the reception has been canceled.
