PORT ANGELES — Two Port Angeles women who allegedly flashed motorists last week at the Clallam County Courthouse remained in jail Tuesday after they had pleaded not guilty.
Wanda May Pratt, 58, pleaded not guilty to gross misdemeanor indecent exposure Monday in District Court and had her readiness hearing scheduled for Oct. 16. Her bail is $5,000.
Kari Mae Ault, 39, pleaded not guilty to gross misdemeanor indecent exposure Aug. 28 and had her readiness hearing set for Oct. 9.
Her bail is $5,000 on the indecent exposure charge and $5,000 on an unrelated charge of malicious mischief.
According to Port Angeles Police Department Officer Whitney Fairbanks’ case report, Peninsula Communications dispatch began receiving calls at 6:50 p.m. Aug. 27 that Pratt was taking off her shirt and flashing people in the 400 block of South Lincoln Street outside the courthouse.
A Clallam Transit employee who was waiting across South Lincoln Street at the bus stop said when Ault saw Pratt, Ault pulled her shirt down and exposed her breasts.
She and two men at the bus stop said they were offended by Ault’s and Pratt’s behavior.
One of the men said Pratt and Ault seemed to be under the influence.
A woman who first reported the incident and had her 7-year-old daughter with her said one of the women had been rolling around on the courthouse lawn, “talking to a tree,” Fairbanks said.
When they were arrested, Pratt and Ault “insisted they hadn’t flashed anyone,” Fairbanks said.
“While I was searching Pratt and checking a pocket on her shirt, she asked if I wanted to see her breasts,” Fairbanks said in the report.
