PORT ANGELES — A unidentified man and woman were being sought Thursday by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office in connection with three burglaries early Wednesday morning.
The first burglary sparked an alarm that drew Clallam County deputies to Hartnagel’s Building Supply, 3111 E. U.S. Highway 101 just after midnight on Wednesday.
Arriving within three minutes, deputies found a shattered door and evidence of merchandise stolen from within the store. The suspects, believed to be a man and a woman, gained entry into the lumber yard of Hartnagel’s by breaching a chain link fence, deputies said.
About five minutes later, an employee at Port Angeles Power Equipment at 2624 E. Highway 101, reported that the chain link fence had been breached just before midnight.
The fence was breached in a manner that was similar to the Hartnagel’s burglary, deputies said, but there was no evidence any property had been stolen.
Just before 2 a.m. while deputies were processing the scene at Hartnagel’s Building Supply for evidence, another burglary was reported at Leitz Farms at 259110 U.S. Highway 101 in Sequim.
It was found to have occurred at around 12:45 a.m. and items were stolen from the business.
“A review of surveillance video indicates that the same male and female suspect were involved with the burglaries at Hartnagel’s and Leitz Farm Store,” said Chief Criminal Deputy Brian King.
“Due to the timing of all three burglaries and the similar tactics used to gain unlawful entry, all three incidents are believed to be related to the same two suspects,” he continued.
