PORT ANGELES — Two unrelated child molestation cases were heard Wednesday in Clallam County Superior Court.
Jonathan N. Wasankari, 46, of Forks was charged with first-degree child molestation, a Class A felony, and his arraignment was set for 9 a.m. April 19.
He remained in the Clallam County jail Wednesday afternoon on $50,000 bail.
Brian R. Dilley, 38, of Sequim pleaded guilty to second-degree child molestation, with a special allegation of use of a position of trust, and was jailed without bail.
His sentencing on the Class B felony is May 22.
The county Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has recommended a sentence of 30 months of confinement for Dilley followed by 36 months of community custody and 15 years of registration as a sexual offender.
The maximum prison sentence for the Class B felony is 10 years with a fine of up to $20,000.
The incident involving Dilley occurred between July 1, 2016, and May 31, 2017.
The mother of a 5-year-old girl said she was talking to her daughter “about things that are appropriate and inappropriate” when the girl said Dilley made her touch him sexually when she was 4, according to Sheriff’s Patrol Sgt. Amy Bundy’s arrest report.
The incident involving Wasankari occurred April 3, two days before he was booked into the county jail, according to county Sheriff’s Deputy David Fletcher’s arrest report.
The alleged victim, 11, told her mother Wasankari had touched her sexually while she and Wasankari were talking about bras and her physical development, the mother said.
First-degree child molestation is a Class A felony punishable by life imprisonment.
