Two charged after armed confrontation

PORT ANGELES — Two people were charged Wednesday for their alleged roles in an armed confrontation last weekend over a stolen SUV.

Taylor Oliver Dickinson was charged in Clallam County Superior Court with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, possessing a stolen firearm, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, court records said.

The 25-year-old Port Angeles man is accused of ramming a Dodge Durango with a stolen Chevrolet Tahoe and pointing a .380-caliber pistol at the Durango’s occupants Saturday morning.

Kayla L. Wishart was charged with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, possessing a stolen firearm, second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission, possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin, charging papers said.

The 19-year-old Port Angeles woman is accused of taking the Tahoe and pointing a gun at the two people in the Durango during the confrontation east of Port Angeles.

Dickinson and Wishart are each being held in the Clallam County jail on $50,000 bail.

Clallam County sheriff’s deputies allege that Dickinson and Wishart pointed weapons at a pair of victims who were described as friends of the owner of the stolen Tahoe.

After the confrontation, Dickinson, Wishart and a third occupant of the Tahoe, 20-year-old Mason Rood-Durham, fled on foot in separate directions from U.S. Highway 101 to the Gales Addition neighborhood, deputies said.

Dickinson and Wishart were arrested without further incident. Deputies found Wishart to be in possession of small quantities of drugs and a loaded .380-caliber pistol that had been stolen from Kitsap County, Clallam County Sheriff’s deputy Eric Morris said in the affidavit for probable cause.

Rood-Durham was not apprehended and remains a person of interest in the case, Sgt. Randy Pieper said Tuesday.
