PORT ANGELES — Authorities arrested two suspects and were looking for a third Saturday after an armed dispute over a stolen SUV and subsequent foot pursuits east of Port Angeles.
Taylor O. Dickinson, 25, and Kayla L. Wishart, 19, were booked in the Clallam County jail for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle and assault after the Chevrolet Tahoe they were riding in was spotted by a person claiming to be the owner, which led to a confrontation in a grocery store parking lot, Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Pieper said.
A third suspect, Mason H. Rood-Durham, 19, remained at large on Saturday afternoon.
Rood-Durham was last seen wearing a black shirt and red hat. He has long blond hair in a ponytail, Pieper said.
Pieper said it was possible that Rood-Durham is armed.
“We’re still trying to piece together what was going on,” Pieper said.
“The bottom line is there had been a dispute between these groups of people.”
The owner of a white Tahoe that was reported as stolen about a week ago followed the vehicle from Port Angeles to the Mount Pleasant IGS store and confronted the three occupants Saturday morning, Pieper said.
The suspects in the stolen Tahoe allegedly pointed firearms at other motorists and rammed their Dodge Durango in the parking lot of the Safeway store at 2709 E. U.S. Highway 101., Pieper said.
Authorities received conflicting reports about who pointed the weapons and who was driving the SUV, Pieper said.
Responding law enforcement spotted the Tahoe at the Liberty gas station 2453 E. U.S. Highway 101. The three occupants fled on foot.
Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Morris arrested Wishart in a nearby yard.
Dickinson was arrested on Fourth Avenue in Gales Addition.
Bond has not been set for either.
Authorities recovered one firearm, a Ruger .380 pistol.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for the stolen Tahoe. As of 3:15 p.m., deputies had found an empty holster, pocket knife, unopened backpack and .380-caliber bullet in the SUV, Pieper said.
Deputies were seeking another search warrant for the backpack, Pieper said.
