Travel trailer stolen from Forks

FORKS — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office was investigating Tuesday the theft of a 16-foot travel trailer that was reported as stolen in Forks on Sunday morning, Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed Anderson said.

The 2018 Forest River travel trailer was taken from a U.S. Highway 101 location near milepost 194 on the north side of the city sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday, Anderson said in a Tuesday news release.

The white and brown- and red-striped trailer had the word “Cascade” painted on its front and side. It bears the Washington license plate 72179AB.

The estimated value of the travel trailer is $18,000.

A witness reported Monday seeing what they believed to be a 1989 or 1990 teal-colored extended cab Ford pickup backing up to the trailer Sunday morning.

“Two men got out of the truck,” Anderson said of the witness report.

“One man was described as being an older heavy-set white male and the other man was described as being a taller, dark-haired man who may have been Native American.”

Last week, deputies responded to a “similar-style theft” of a Clallam County Public Utility District mini excavator, Anderson said.

The mini Kubota excavator, valued at about $47,000, was reported as stolen from an Undi Road job site south of Forks on Sept. 5. It was recovered on a Jefferson County logging road the next day, Anderson said.

“At this time, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is requesting any and all information regarding the recent thefts,” Anderson said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office at 360-417-2459.
